The painting is a magnificent copy of the Transfiguration of Raphael. The restoration included correction of previous restorations, removal of old varnishes, scientific and photographic documentation.

The piece is on display in the Sala della Benedizione, where the Holy Father blesses the world from the central loggia, every Christmas and Easter.
